Aquatics and Land therapy
The Physical Therapist job is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record.
The Physical Therapist acts as a consultant to various patient clinics, provides instruction to PT support staff, students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patient and/or family members. Therapists may also rotate through our various clinical service areas.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
Experience REQUIRED:
New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as a Physical Therapist* *Employee is expected to progress to a Physical Therapist
Clinician II level within two years of employment at VCUHS
Experience PREFERRED:
Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility
Education/training REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy
Education/training PREFERRED:
Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy
Independent action(s) required:
Patient evaluation and implementation of plan of care, discharge planning. Ordering equipment.
Representing department at rounds and discharge conferences. Scheduling and charging patients.
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable):
Employee may have supervisory responsibilities of Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Technicians, students, and volunteers.
Employee is a member of a self-directed team and applies his knowledge and experience in daily clinic problem solving.
The team will bring unresolved issues to departmental manager for assistance and guidance in their resolution.
Additional position requirements:
Employee is expected to share in weekend and holiday schedule expectations of the department or have a fluctuation of daily work hours from 8 AM to 7 PM based on patient population needs.
