About the Role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our technology team. In this role, you will contribute to the analysis, design, development, testing, and ongoing support of moderately complex technical systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement and evolve DevOps practices, ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure and delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions

  • Lead containerization initiatives using Docker and Podman

  • Perform Red Hat Linux server maintenance, upgrades, and migrations

  • Set up, maintain, and optimize Redis servers

  • Install, configure, and maintain Jenkins environments

  • Manage SSL/TLS certificates and ensure secure communication standards

  • Maintain and migrate virtual machine environments

  • Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using Python, Bash, and PowerShell

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to embed DevOps best practices

  • Support incident response, root cause analysis, and release management activities

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience with relevant formal academic or vocational qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in systems development, DevOps, or a related role

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub)

  • Hands-on experience with scripting and automation (Python, Bash)

  • Solid experience with container technologies (Docker, Podman)

  • Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and observability tools and strategies

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Git workflows, and enterprise compliance standards

  • Experience integrating vulnerability scanning and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and HIPAA

  • Working knowledge of Azure and AWS cloud platforms

  • Strong understanding of cloud and infrastructure security best practices

  • Ability to design proactive alerting and observability solutions

  • Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and promote DevOps best practices

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders

  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and strong problem-solving mindset

Must-Have Skills

  • CI/CD pipeline development using Jenkins

  • Scripting and automation using Python and Bash

  • Containerization with Docker and Podman

  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems
