Overview of Fiera Canadian Large Cap Equities Team:

The Fiera Canadian Large Cap Equity team manages over $14 billion of the firm’s assets. We are a small, diverse, hard-working group that has doubled in size as our asset base has grown significantly. We have a strong focus on quality investing and our perspective is for the long-term.

What we are looking for:

The Large Cap Canadian Equity team is looking for an intern with a natural curiosity to learn a business inside and out and develop a career as an investor with a strong interest in sustainability.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis into material sustainability factors relevant to our portfolio companies.

  • Assist the team and participate in sustainability-focused engagements with company management

  • Support research into ESG shareholder proposals received at portfolio companies and contribute to recommendations on proxy voting decisions

  • Work closely with analysts and portfolio managers on the Canadian Equity team to actively participate in the investment process

  • Conduct ad hoc financial statement modeling and valuation work on specific companies

  • Work on several sustainability related projects to help drive our sustainable investing focus

  • Synthesize multiple sources of information including company financial documents, industry conferences, investment analysts and company management meetings into concise written and verbal communications

  • Work on specific projects from the team as appropriate

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Sustainability, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or any related field.

  • Previous experience, coursework or strong interest in ESG/Sustainable investing required

  • Strong understanding of climate data including the GHG Protocol

  • Extensive knowledge of sustainability frameworks and standards including SASB, TCFD, SBTi

  • Detailed understanding of Accounting and Finance concepts

  • Have a track record of academic achievement

  • Previous fundamental equity analysis experience, an asset

  • Extensive knowledge of factors affecting equity securities and financial markets

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Strong interest and ability to analyze companies with a quality bias

  • Results oriented, capacity to adapt to changes in priorities and timelines

  • Methodical, resourceful, and excellent attention to detail

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

  • Outstanding presentation & communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Duration of internship: 4 to 8 months (starting January 2025)

  • Fiera Capital adheres to a hybrid working environment with 3 days in-office per week
