Packaging Analyst – Sumare, Brasil

Collaborate with innovative 3Mers around the world

The position of Packaging Analyst provides packaging documentation and data to businesses through the collection, manipulation and management of product packaging data. Individuals will work closely with a team of Packaging Engineers and internal/external business partners to execute project initiatives. Packaging Analysts are experts in packaging data (gross weights, dimensions and palletization) for finished goods as well as packaging documentation in the form of packaging standards.

Individuals in this role follow a select number of clearly defined procedures under general guidance.  Handles inquiries of moderate scope and complexity.  Provides direct and/or indirect entry level packaging data services to assigned divisions.  Provides basic research and analysis for packaging and business information upon request.

The impact you will make in this role:

• Follows a variety of clearly defined procedures under general guidance within Packaging Engineering organizational areas such as client services, continuous improvement, systems, and quality.  Works independently, although the scope for discretion is limited and the output is reviewed periodically while in progress.  The work priorities are defined with the manager/supervisor.
• Uses packaging practices to provide guidance and/or training to clients or support co-workers within the same or job-related workgroup.
• Handles inquiries of moderate scope and complexity.  Uses data from multiple sources and basic analytical skills to interpret information, examine variables, draw conclusions, and assess alternative methods.
• Decisions or actions may impact on the operational effectiveness of work operations, schedules, or performance goals.
• Working tasks generally include:
  • Creates packaging documentation and pack level gross weight and dimensional data for assigned 3M Business Groups
  • Works with a team of Packaging Engineers to understand packaging materials and pack out methods
  • Interacts with manufacturing and distribution facilities to develop/improve packaging documentation and data flow
  • Manages, interprets and analyzes data to support improvements and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accuracy across multiple process areas and systems
  • Learns and begins to apply quality management requirements to department operations
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to develop process improvements, standard operating procedures, work instructions, training, and supporting documentation.
  • Manages and/or retrieves packaging and business data from departmental systems/databases to support analysis or improvements.
• Primary contacts are typically internal and on a professional, supervisory, or co-worker level.
• Interaction is focused on answering routine questions directly related to professional discipline, as well as exchanging factual information with an audience knowledgeable in the subject area.
• Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards, complies with corporate policies and procedures and acts in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards.
• The job also requires performing other duties as assigned

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
• Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience working on similar roles.  
• Advance English Level is required.
•  Experience working in Excel, PowerBi, SAP, PLM

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: 

• Experience in a Packaging organization
• Strong verbal and written communication and project management skills
• Experience working on a cross-functional team
• Advanced written and spoken proficiency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese – fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish.

• Work Location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the Office located in Sumare, Brasil.
