Job Description

Our mission at Whole Foods Market is to nourish people and the planet, but also- future talent. We are excited to offer our 2025 Summer Internship Program to purpose-driven students seeking to make a difference in their work and in their community. Our internship program is based in Austin, Texas, down the street from our original Whole Foods Market store. Our interns don’t get us coffee; instead, they enjoy free coffee and tea while working on meaningful projects that impact our internal and external stakeholders.

About the Team:

The Exclusive Brands (EB) Product Quality team supports Whole Foods Market (WFM) private label business by evaluating products and customer feedback data to identify issues and provide improvement recommendations to EB category leaders and technical teams. The team analyzes customer feedback data to identify product quality issues and trends, organizes and leads product cuttings to review product attributes and performance, and collaborates with Food Safety and Quality teams to troubleshoot root causes during the manufacturing, storage, and distribution of EB products. Product Quality summarizes product investigation findings and customer sentiment to communicate quality insights with business stakeholders, including product developers and category managers.

Intern Responsibilities May Include:

  • Coordinate and lead product evaluations of EB products post-launch for compliance with federal regulations and WFM internal requirements.

  • Support investigations into product quality issues in collaboration with EB stakeholders, Food Safety, and Incident Management teams, as well as EB suppliers, for root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.

  • Analyze product evaluation data and customer feedback to identify, summarize and trend product quality deviations and EB supplier quality performance.

  • Review product quality data and improve data management procedures and data visualization.

  • Report product quality insight from various PQ programs to EB stakeholders and suppliers.

You Will Bring:

  • Experience or familiarity with food and food manufacturing, including product development, food processing, and food safety and quality.

  • Experience with analyzing reporting and visualizing data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.

  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and deliver against rapid development timelines.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Ability to make decisions or judgments and know when to seek subject matter expert opinion.

Education & Experience:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed (within the past year) a bachelors or master's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field preferred.

Internship Program Details:

Our Summer 2025 Internships are paid for 10-weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) between June 2, 2025-August 8, 2025. The internships will be based in Austin, Texas on a hybrid schedule and are not open to remote candidates at this time.

Program Highlights:

  • Weekly Summer Event Series: Weekly events for interns to connect with one another and get immersed in the Whole Foods Market culture. Previous events have included distribution center tours, cheese tastings, volunteering at the Central Texas Food Bank, supplier visits, women in leadership panel and more!

  • Intern Buddy: Opportunity to be paired with a Whole Foods Market team member outside of our team that can be a go to resource during your summer.

  • Team Member Coffee Chats: Network 1:1 with Whole Foods Market team members in your field or area of interest for a 20 – 30-minute coffee chat.

  • Internship Expo: End of internship presentations where you can share what projects you worked on during the summer with the entire company!

Application Review: Our internship applications will be open in September and October 2024. We will review applications on a rolling basis so next steps and interviews may not be communicated until November or December 2024.
