Job Summary
Would you like the opportunity to create and communicate design through production drawings for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products? As a Ride & Show Controls Designer, you would work closely with our Design & Engineering teams, line of business customers, outside vendors, and project management staff to support project specific requirements and create CAD designs, detail drawings, and other supporting documentation. You would make an impact by being involved in a variety of detail production drawings for electrical wiring diagrams, schematics of electrical systems, electrical details and assemblies for racks, consoles and control boxes and documentation for our amazing attractions.

Responsibilities
You would join a collaborative team in an open environment as we partner closely with Engineering to develop innovative and production design packages in support of project requirements. We want your passion for providing CAD design layouts and detail drawings to support Engineers for capital and expense projects.
Every single day as a Ride & Show Controls Designer is different! On any one day you might:
- Work closely with Engineering to develop innovative and production design packages in support of project requirements. Provide CAD design layouts and detail drawings to support Engineering for capital and expense projects
- Help develop and participate in project design reviews
- Complete multiple fast paced well defined projects using effective time management principles and task tracking software.
- Research applicable historical data, documentation, lessons learned, materials, processes, parts, systems, vendors, etc.… to determine necessary project requirements and formulate multiple solutions for client review and selection
- Ensure that drawings comply with applicable codes, legislation, and regulatory requirements as well as both internal and industry standards, including California/Florida Ride Law
- Review design packages with vendors and shops for conformance with design documentation, to ensure timely and successful outcomes
- Work with Engineers and Document Control Staff to ensure as-built drawings and other project documentation are properly detailed and submitted into the electronic data management system for archival and are subsequently properly updated, thru to completion
- Stay abreast and maintain proficient in best industry practices, industrial codes, company specifications and relevant international, federal, state and local legislation pertaining to electrical control systems, electrical cabinets, electrical wiring, power and communications distribution systems, IT infrastructure, fire alarm systems, power storage systems, pyrotechnics, remote monitoring systems, switchgear, telecommunications systems, PLC base textile processing equipment and transit systems used in a permeant theme park environment
- Be open to learning new software packages and adapt to utilizing them per company standards in support of project documentation delivery
- Understanding of new technologies, products, processes, methodologies, services, vendors, etc.… and put forth for consideration where they reduce cost, increase quality and/or safety, or help overcome a well-defined technical or commercial challenge
Required Qualifications (Please apply if you have):
- Two (2) or more years of design experience as a Designer or degreed Engineer in a design environment working in a multi‐discipline, technical, electrical design team setting
- AutoCAD electrical and Eplan experience (professional training and/or certification)
- Engineering and electrical/mechanical design skills, including manufacturing practices and processes
- Knowledge of materials (metals, composites, plastics), welding, finish processes, ASME standards (Y14 and Y14.5), and engineering documentation skills
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Demonstrated interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, time management, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management
- Ability to work on multiple defined projects as well as within a team in a high-paced environment, and seek guidance/approval with on-going communication
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, time management, and organization skills
- Open to quickly learn computer software packages
Additional Qualifications (It would be nice if you also have):
- 2+ years' experience in a theme park design environment
- Adept at electrical drafting and designing in a 2D and 3D environment
- Knowledgeable in mechanical design
- Reliability centered maintenance experience
Required Education
- Two (2) or more years of college (electrical/mechanical engineering or engineering technology courses) preferably with an Associates or higher-level degree, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- GD&T training and/or certification
- SolidWorks certification or equivalent professional training or on the job proficiency
- AutoCAD 2018, Autodesk Certified Professional in AutoCAD for Design & Drafting preferred, equivalent professional training or on the job proficiency
- AutoCAD Electrical 2018, professional training preferred, equivalent on the job proficiency acceptable
- Eplan P2.9, Eplan Certified Engineer preferred, equivalent professional training or on the job proficiency acceptable
- Awareness of Industry Standards; documents included but not limited to:
- California State Law, Title 8
- Florida State Law, Title XXXVI
- OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration)
Notes
- Requires a significant amount of time spent in a sitting position conducting CAD workstation operation.
- Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment, but some time shall be required to work after hours for gathering as-built documentation, capturing field conditions, and attraction testing, as required. This may include, but is not limited to, climbing stairs, ladders, crawling, and accessing confined spaces.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts as required.

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $87,100 to $116,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
