What can you expect?

This role’s primary focus is to bring new clients and significantly grow Mercer’s investment consulting business in Mexico and beyond.

• Serve as the primary investment consultant on medium and large clients and/or second on jumbo clients, including managing overall service delivery and solution design. Act as the day-to-day lead for the client, ensuring project requirements, solutions, and deliverables meet client expectations to provide the best tailored financial advice.
• Work as part of a team on a range of complex projects.
• Generate sales by expanding revenues from existing clients and, importantly, by proactively bringing in new clients to grow Mercer’s investment business.
• Sell and manage customized investment consulting services to both new and existing clients, and develop or contribute to intellectual capital.
• Depending on the size and complexity of a client assignment, take a leading role or support others Consultants. In all circumstances, be exposed to innovative and market-leading ideas while contributing to interesting work.
• Enhance the client’s stated investment mission, planned implementation strategy, and execution strategy.
• Maximize the intellectual capital that gets into clients’ portfolios and ensure scope and fees are aligned.
• Coordinate with existing sales and Client Management teams to identify, develop, and close strategic sales opportunities, with a strong focus on business development to expand Mercer’s investment consulting footprint.

We will count on you to:

• Provide investment advice to a wide range of institutional clients on determining investment objectives, establishing investment policy, selecting investment managers, consistently monitoring investment markets and client portfolios, managing and preparing for risk, and making adjustments to investment strategies.
• Create and evaluate investment strategies and their impact for large and jumbo market clients.
• Create project work plans and monitor timelines and budgets.
• Implement efforts to aggressively market and expand the Investment Consulting business as well as Mercer’s broader services as appropriate.
• Grow a book of retainer and project relationships through new business presentations, RFP responses, joint calling with colleagues both within Investment Consulting and cross-LOB, and by actively bringing in new clients to drive business growth.
• Maintain marketplace visibility through public speaking engagements, participation in professional societies, and publication of articles in appropriate trade journals.

What you need to have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or other business-related area, with strong quantitative and analytical course content.
• AMIB Figura 3 certification.
• 8+ years’ experience in investment consulting with proven ability to sell and deliver investment consulting services to senior business leaders.
• Strong mathematical and financial skills and knowledge.
• Good knowledge of pensions industry, markets, investment managers, and relevant legislation.
• Specialized knowledge of investment products and services.
• Ability to consult on all products within the investment market and advise clients on appropriate choices for their situation.
• Highly analytical with a strategic mindset, excellent client-facing skills, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience in leading projects and managing client expectations.
• Advanced skills in MS Office – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Strong command of spoken and written English is a must.
• Experience in designing and developing ALM Models (preferably).
