Project Analyst

As a Project Analyst in Sun Life's Agile Excellence Domain, you will be part of our exciting journey as we embark on a multi-year transformation to a Digital Enterprise with a focus on driving forward new ways of working, bringing Business, IT and Operations closer together in delivery Client Value.
 

You will be responsible for supporting the Planview platform within VRO, provide vendor management support, while also engaging as the Project Coordinator/Project Specialist/Junior PM to provides project management support, stakeholder engagement, and administrative assistance, coordinating, planning, managing, and implementing small to medium project(s) supporting our business partner’s strategic objectives and goals.

What will you do?

  • Planview Administration and Support:
    • Administer and maintain the Planview project management software platform.
    • Provide training and support to project team members on the use of Planview.
    • Develop and implement Planview-related processes and procedures.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or problems with the Planview system.
    • Collaborate with the IT team to ensure the Planview system is integrated with other relevant systems.
    • Analyze Planview data and generate reports to support project management and decision-making.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Manage and maintain vendor relationships, including licenses and contracts.
    • Negotiate and review vendor contracts to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
    • Monitor vendor performance and compliance with contractual agreements.
    • Coordinate with vendors to resolve any issues or concerns that arise.
    • Maintain a centralized repository of vendor information, contracts, and related documentation.
  • Manage all phases of small to medium, IT or IT/Business projects from initiation to closure while leveraging best practice standards and processes set out by Sun Life’s PMOs and other industry organizations, including PMI.
  • Manage all aspects of project coordination and administration. These include scheduling meetings, meeting minutes, maintaining, and communicating Risk Actions, Issues and Decisions logs.
  • Provide clear direction and motivation to project team.
  • Ensure the definition and approval of project scope, deliverables, desired quality, and measures of success.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships to ensure project delivery expectations are specified and successfully met.
  • Develop and manage detailed work plans, project schedules, estimates and resource plans in conjunction with project team members and other involved business and IT teams.
  • Work with multi site project teams.
  • Monitor and report on project status highlighting issues and risks appropriately. And, as necessary, coordinate the development, discussion, and approval of corrective action and/or contingency plans.
  • Define and manage project risks and issues ensuring appropriate strategies and plans are in place to mitigate or handle effectively. Proactively escalate risks and issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure effective and timely communication occurs within the project team and between the project team and their stakeholders.
  • Ensure that appropriate processes, tools, and techniques are available and used by the project team.
  • Ensure that project activities and deliverables adhere to internal quality standards.


What will you need to succeed?

  • Good hands on exposure working on PPM tools like Planview, Changepoint, Daptiv PPM etc.
  • Excellent vendor management skills, including contract negotiation, PO and performance monitoring
  • Overall project management experience of 1-5 years with proven results
  • Knowledge of project management techniques, tools, and methodologies
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on relationship management and team building.
  • Can effectively and concisely communicate project and technical information to provide comprehensive, concise recommendations to management.
  • Ability to influence and manage difficult situations through to resolution; escalating as required and utilizing critical judgement in knowing when to do so.
  • Ability to hold project team members and other stakeholders accountable to ensure that projects can progress according to plan.
  • Effectively analyze project expense trends and understands the impact on projected spend.
  • Has a personal sense of urgency about solving problems and getting work done and instills the same in the project team.
  • Ability to partner with resource managers to deal fairly, firmly, and promptly with performance problems.
  • Ability to create project plans and identify dependencies.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong problem solving and ability to make recommendations on for decisions.
  • Ability to work with some ambiguity and help project team members work with ambiguity.


Assets:

  • University degree, college diploma or appropriate experience in lieu of.
  • Project management/coordinator experience in the insurance industry or finance industry.
