Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer III to design, build, and scale secure, reliable, and automated cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical platforms.

This role requires a hands-on engineer who can independently design and implement CI/CD systems, optimize cloud environments, and drive DevOps maturity across teams. You will play a key role in improving deployment velocity, operational resilience, and infrastructure scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions to improve deployment frequency and reliability

  • Manage and maintain on-premise Linux servers, including patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and lifecycle management
  • Lead and support production release activities, ensuring deployment reliability, rollback readiness, and post-release validation
  • Design and manage scalable AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices

  • Execute containerization strategy and optimize Docker-based workloads

  • Improve system reliability through monitoring, observability, proactive alerting, and automation

  • Diagnose and resolve build failures, pipeline performance issues, and dependency conflicts
  • Reduce operational toil through scripting and automation (Bash, Terraform, tooling enhancements)

  • Partner with development teams to embed DevOps principles and improve developer experience

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to DevOps standards and architectural decisions

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Systems Engineering

  • Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining AWS-based infrastructure

  • Proven experience implementing CI/CD pipelines in enterprise environments

  • Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

  • Strong Linux systems expertise (Ubuntu and Debian preferred)

  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience designing highly available, scalable cloud architectures

  • Familiarity with container orchestration

  • Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions

  • Understanding of cloud security, compliance, and governance best practices

  • Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments

What We’re Looking For

  • A builder who thinks in systems, not just tools

  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and production ownership mindset

  • Ability to balance speed, reliability, and cost

  • Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
