The National Systems Group (NSG) serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community (IC) and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

We are looking for a Commercial Modeling & Simulation Lead (Project Leader/Sr. Project Leader – Modeling & Simulation Engineering) to be a key member of the Commercial Acquisition & Integration team. This position directly supports the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Commercial Systems Program Office (CSPO).  The mission of CSPO is to investigate the capabilities of non-traditional space-based commercial capabilities for integration into the IC government architecture. This position includes frequent interaction with space related technology start-up companies and the opportunity to explore cutting edge technology that may be useful to the IC and the Department of Defense. We have an immediate need for someone with architecture modeling experience to proactively assist the government with the acquisition and integration of commercial services into the NRO enterprise architecture.  

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in Chantilly Virginia, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Serve as the integration leader and coordinator for architecture modeling & simulation of commercial systems
  • Identify opportunities, prioritize tasks, facilitate communication and act as the spokesperson to the customer for modeling support acquisitions that optimize the application and utility of commercial space systems inside the NRO’s and IC’s architecture
  • Organize interfaces between customers' and Aerospace technical and management staff
  • Develop and managing customer support plans to maximize mission satisfaction
  • Collaborate across the NRO and the Intelligence community to influence current and future investments in commercial technology and capabilities
  • Lead technical staff and matrixed technical resources to address a broad range of technical topics
  • Interact with non-traditional space sector commercial companies

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for the Project Leader- Modeling & Simulation Engineering:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering, mathematics, or science field
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant technical experience
  • Experience with Aerospace modeling tools in support of architecture, analysis of alternatives and space-based vendor acquisitions
  • Technical understanding of space-based architectures
  • Capability to address and solve complex challenges
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Experience in leading technical teams with diverse backgrounds from a variety of organizations
  • Willing to support occasional travel domestically (typically 1 week every few months or less)
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SBI/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Sr. Project Leader- Modeling & Simulation Engineering include:

  • Ten years of experience relevant technical experience
  • Technical depth and experience evaluating space-based sensors and phenomenologies
  • Specific experience with modeling space-based commercial radar, Electro-Optical, or commercial hyperspectral capabilities
  • Technical experience either working for or with commercial space companies

  • 12 or more years of relevant technical experience
  • Experience with multiple government streamlined space-based vendor acquisitions
  • Prior experience as the lead for matrixed teams with diverse skill sets to solve multi-disciplinary challenges
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant Aerospace resources to support architectural and optimization tasks
