Catawba Nuclear Plant is seeking two Mechanical Systems Engineers to join the Plant Engineering – Operations Support Engineering team. These roles offer the opportunity to contribute to the long-term reliability and performance of critical plant systems—including cooling towers, service water, fire protection, and several nuclear primary systems—within a highly regulated and technically rigorous environment. As part of the engineering team the candidates will directly support the preventive maintenance program, monitoring and trending equipment performance, provide technical oversight and engineering support to operations and maintenance organizations, and setting direction for the strategic long planning of power plant equipment to ensure optimum equipment reliability.
These are junior level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level possess understanding of basic engineering theories and principles. Incumbents are expected to use engineering practices to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, prepare and present recommendations to engineering and site management.
If you’re looking for an exciting career or something new, these positions offer a wide variety of work and overtime requirements are infrequent. You will also work inside an operating power plant offering fieldwork experience, inspections, and walkdowns while the nuclear station provides life-essential electricity to the surrounding community and power grid.
Both positions offer a 4-day 10h workweek (Mon-Thurs) with a hybrid work schedule (at least 2 of 4 days are in the office, the others may be taken at home). As a Duke Energy employee, you are offered a package of Paid Time Off / Vacation in addition to Holidays, Sick Time, and Dependent Care.
