SEMCO - Engineering Technician II - Electrical
Under minimal supervision, the Electrical Engineering Technician installs, operates, and maintains the Company’s field SCADA equipment, including RTUs, PLCs, electronic instrumentation, controls, chromatographs, and telecommunications equipment associated with gas measurement and control systems. This role also coordinates and oversees contract electricians for the installation of conduit, wiring, grounding systems, and other electrical components. This position is based on Port Huron, MI.
Key Responsibilities
Install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic measurement and advanced technology systems, including:
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Remote Telemetry Units (RTUs)
Electronic metering field units (hardware and software)
Meter pulsers, measurement correction devices, and communication software
Pressure and temperature transducers, limit switches, and instrumentation
Large compressor control panels and auxiliary equipment
Chemical injection process equipment (odorizers)
Gas chromatographs and dew point analyzers
Electronic pressure regulator and valve controls
Install, update, and maintain 24V DC electrical systems and components.
Construct and wire electronic enclosures, including mounting, grounding, isolation barriers, IP network communications, 4-20 mA cards, power supply, relays, and fusing.
Collaborate with other departments to interface mechanical and electronic equipment and troubleshoot issues.
Participate in company training as required.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical/control instrumentation.
Experience with electronic instrumentation and/or control equipment (certification preferred).
Valid driver’s license and ability to comply with the Company’s Safe Driving Policy.
Ability to travel on short notice and work in field conditions.
Ability to read electrical diagrams and blueprints.
Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting circuits and identifying root causes.
Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Excellent customer service orientation and ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere.
Proficiency in personal computer applications; ability to learn new systems/software as needed.

We offer a competitive hourly wage of $32.21 to $43.27 per hour for this opportunity, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. We are also proud to provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
