Job Description:

  • Role title:  Payroll Services Officer

  • Role type:  Maximum Term, Full-Time (1 year contract)

  • Role grade: Administration Officer Level 6 (Year1-2)

  • Department and location:  People and Culture, St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst

  • Salary: $80,340.81- $82,240.16 + super +salary packaging

About the role

  • Payroll Processing & Data Management – Accurately establish and maintain employee records in chris21, ensuring updates to salaries, classifications, bank details, and personal information are processed correctly.

  • Leave & Pay Adjustments – Process leaves transactions (maternity, long service, workers' compensation) and investigate retrospective pay adjustments to ensure timely and authorised payments. Working with other Payroll Services Officers to deliver a highly accurate payroll service.

  • Participate in process improvement projects.

  • Business engagement with a wide range of stakeholders across several entities to ensure their needs are met and exceeded.

  • Deliver high quality customer service

About you

  • Payroll Expertise – Experience in a high-volume, complex payroll environment, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Systems Knowledge – Familiarity with CHRIS 21 or similar payroll systems and exposure to automated time and attendance systems (preferably Kronos).

  • Awards & Agreements Experience – Understanding of health awards/agreements or experience working with complex award conditions across multiple agreements.

  • Problem-Solving & Customer Service – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to delivering exceptional internal customer service.

  • Positive & Proactive Mindset – A can-do attitude, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
