Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Retirement Account Administrator to join our team. Here at Mechanics Bank, we value connection, partnership, long term relationships and working together in person. This role will be working on-site at our Walnut Creek office.

The individual will be responsible for the administration of a variety of small and medium sized retirement accounts including 401(k) Defined Benefit and IRA accounts. Works with Plan Administrators, Actuaries, and Plan Consultants and Legal Counsel. Will have some Business Development responsibilities.

What you will be doing:

  • Account set-up and termination; contributions and distributions; asset purchases and sales; trust accounting statement production; IRS reporting; payment of fees; and participant loans.

  • Adheres to minimum distribution requirements policies and procedures

  • Ensures accuracy of all IRS reporting documents for tax reporting.

  • Manages the client review process when identified as the relationship manager, and managing the client experience.

  • Serves as a point of contact for plan sponsors, plan actuaries, attorneys, clients and vendors.

  • Locate and introduce potential business clients to our small business retirement services solution.

  • Work with plan retiree’s and term vested participants regarding plan benefit options.

Who you are:

  • 2 year Associate's Degree highly preferred, but equivalent exprience will be considered of degree.

  • 3 years of related experience in a financial institution required.

  • Charter Retirement Specialist (CRPS) or equivalent

  • IRA Specialist certification (CISP)

  • Customer Service experience preferred

Pay Range: $25-36 hourly

Final compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
