Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, Senior Network Automation Engineer to join a newly-formed global team focused on network automation. You will design and implement automated network applications to improve the efficiency of an organization's network infrastructure.

You will report to the Senior IT Manager - Global Network.

Location: Bogota or Medellin - Colombia (Hybrid Schedule). Full time.

Main Responsibilities:

Design Automation Solutions: Create automation scripts and programs to automate network configuration, deployment, and management tasks.

Network Configuration and Management: Use automation tools to manage network configurations, backups, and software updates.

Troubleshoot and Optimization: Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues using automated tools and techniques. Improve network operations for better performance and reliability.

Collaboration and Leadership: Work with IT teams to integrate network automation with other IT processes. Lead projects and mentor junior engineers.

Security and Compliance: Ensure that all automated processes follow security policies and compliance requirements.

Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and improve automation strategies and tools to enhance network reliability and efficiency.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in Programming Languages: Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Perl, or Ruby, especially in the context of network scripting.

Experience with Automation Tools: Familiarity with tools like Ansible and Terraform.

Understanding of Network Technologies: Understanding of network protocols, LAN/WAN, routing and switching, and other network-related technologies.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex networks and identify opportunities for automation and improvement.

Communication Skills:  Advanced English, excellent verbal and written communication skills to talk with team members and stakeholders.

Certifications (optional but beneficial):

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation

Tools You Might Use:

  • Network Management: Cisco DNA Center, SolarWinds, Zabbix
  • Automation Frameworks: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD
  • Scripting and Programming: Python, Bash, REST APIs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in network engineering with a focus on automation.
  • Proficient in Ansible, Python, and other automation frameworks.
  • Experience with network infrastructure and protocols.
