What The Role Is

Clearway is searching for a Staff Accountant to join the Lease Accounting team. This individual will support the overall global lease accounting process, recommend the proper accounting treatment for new lease arrangements, and support the month-end financial close process.

This position will report to the Supervisor, Lease Accounting, and will be based in Scottsdale, AZ, or Princeton, NJ. This role will also be a point of contact with our internal stakeholders, such as the asset management team, financial planning & analysis, regional accounting teams as well as our IT team. In addition, this role will interface with the Company’s internal and external auditors on lease accounting-related topics.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Review contracts to identify leases and summarize key terms.
  • Enter new leases into the lease accounting system.
  • Enter changes to existing leases into the lease accounting system.
  • Communicate with various departments to obtain relevant information to properly account for leases.
  • Perform lease accounting functions necessary to achieve an accurate and timely general ledger month-end close. Duties will include monthly close in the lease accounting system, review of related accounts and identification and preparation of necessary journal entries and posting thereof in the accounting system.
  • Reconcile lease accounts to the general ledger monthly.
  • Prepare entity level and consolidated lease roll-forwards.
  • Preparation of monthly/quarterly lease schedules for the company following GAAP and SEC disclosure requirements. Review and follow up on unusual activity.
  • Assist in providing requested deliverables to the internal and external auditors in conjunction with the quarterly review/year-end audit process.
  • Provide backup for fixed asset accounting group as necessary.
  • Provide support on technical accounting issues.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • One to three years of experience in general accounting and finance.
  • Experience in lease accounting would be a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to identify areas for process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently in team-oriented culture.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

What Would Be Nice

  • Experience with SAP, HFM, OneStream and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
  • Experience with PowerPlan or other lease accounting software would be a plus.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

$65,000$98,000 USD
