What You’ll Get to Do:
CACI is seeking a Composites Technician who will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team fabricating, modifying, assembling, installing, and repairing composite parts and tooling for prototype parts, equipment, and vehicles. You will also be responsible for managing necessary materials and supplies and maintaining the composite shop facilities. This position is located at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD.


More About the Role:

  • Review engineering design to develop composite layup schedule.
  • Develop technical package for devices to include build instructions.
  • Assist in prototype design from customer requirements and help develop associated design and technical packages.
  • Perform all functional duties independently.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to resolve design and documentation discrepancies.
  • Collaboration to ensure cohesive electro-mechanical design and integration.
  • Responsible for the sourcing all required components for each assigned project.
  • Innovative and mechanically oriented mindset; looks for ways to improve processes and promote quality.


You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance and able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • 5+ years of experience doing fiberglass/carbon fiber/Kevlar/etc. layups and repairs.
  • Ability to hand laminate, set up infusions, and work with prepreg fabrics.
  • Knowledge on multiple different layup techniques
  • Familiarity with different core materials (balsa, foam, honeycomb)
  • Proficient with bagging techniques and materials for wet layups, infusions, and prepreg including the use of pleats, release layers, peel plies, breathers, bleeders, flow media, bagging films, etc.
  • Capable of embedding parts into layups for hatches, hardware,

additional strength, joiners, and connectors

  • Proficient in preparing a mold for a wet and pre-preg layup to be released from the mold without damage.
  • Adept in finishing composite parts to prepare them for bonding, painting, or other finishing techniques.
  • Experience using power tools (Examples: hand drill / drill press, circular saw, sander, Dremel, miter saw, belt sander, table saw, etc.)

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Solidworks Experience – ability to work with parts and assemblies, to create designs that for manufacturing.
  • Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Build Experience with amateur or professional UASs using composites.
  • Experience with using desktop 3D printers, CNC machines, hot wire cutters, and laser cutters.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$57,500 - 117,900 USD
