As a Lead Procedural Technologist, you will provide leadership in the Cardiac Cath Lab, including providing guidance for caregiver roles and functions in the procedural area, and monitoring quality and regulatory compliance. You will also assist nursing and medical staff in providing care to patients undergoing invasive procedures such as cardiac catheterization and vascular procedures. This role offers the ability to experience a diversity of modalities and the ability to grow and expand knowledge each day. 

 

A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 7:00AM – 5:30PM, including on-call and rotating weekends and holiday requirements. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

 

  • Assign and distribute work of procedural technologists. 

  • Manage caseload as necessary, coordinating patient flow to area based on clinical information and equipment availability. 

  • Coordinate work schedules to provide required shift and on-call coverage. 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training and new employee orientation. 

  • Assist the manager with performance appraisals, corrective actions and approval of overtime. 

  • Supervise the department functions and resources as needed in the absence of the department manager. 

  • Perform quality audits including technologist documentation and completion of process confirmation. 

  • Act as resource person in the care, maintenance and use of all specialized equipment in the lab. 

  • Introduce and train staff on new techniques, equipment and supplies. 

  • Have oversight for staff onboarding and follow preceptor’s orientation plan for completion. 

  • Promote a team approach both inter and intra departmentally. 

  • Perform the job duties of a procedural technologist. 

  • Perform pre-procedure preparation, post-procedure care and patient disposition in collaboration with nursing and medical staff. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology 

  • Registered Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) 

  • Certified Radiology Technologist in the state of Florida 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross  

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Certified or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT) 

  • Three to five years of experience within specialty 

  • Experience in cardiac catheterization lab operations, procedures, equipment and workflows 

  • STEMI experience 

  • Acute care experience 

Physical Requirements:

  • Essential Duties: Interact with patients, family's physicians and other health care workers. Good hand coordination for positioning of probe and equipment. Good vision to analyze computer screens and VCR recordings to diagnose test results.
  • Physical Duties: Moderate lifting and positioning of patients. Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment.
  •  Working Conditions: 100% air conditioned. Moderate risk of exposure to blood or airborne pathogens.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
