Responsibilities
The Bureau of Cancer Prevention and Control oversees the State’s Cancer Services Program (CSP), a set of statewide community-based contractors that offer cancer screening, diagnostic and treatment services to uninsured and underinsured New Yorkers who are less likely to receive screenings and who experience cancer disparities due to factors such as race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, geography, and social determinants of health. The CSP increases the number of individuals who receive timely screenings and potentially catch cancer early when it is more treatable.
Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Health Program Coordinator to work in the Bureau of Cancer Prevention and Control, Operations Unit. This position will coordinate the multi-step process to ensure that healthcare providers that offer cancer screening and diagnostic services to CSP clients are appropriately credentialed to offer those services. This position will be the main point of contact with CSP contractors regarding the credentialing of healthcare providers; providing training and technical assistance to contractors, acquiring and updating information needed to reimburse healthcare providers for the services they offer to eligible CSP clients, and assisting in resolving state and federal payment issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience contributing to the coordination of program activities in a public health, health, health regulatory, or human services related program; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with provider credentialing and/or eligibility determination in a cancer screening program, public health program, or health care organization. Experience providing technical assistance to program contractors and/or healthcare providers. Experience aiding in the resolution of payment issues. Written and/or verbal experience describing program policies and requirements. Experience creating and maintaining databases or spreadsheets and using them for tracking and monitoring. Proficient in MS Office programs, including, but not limited to: MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Teams.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.
This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
