We have a fantastic and interesting opportunity to join Santander as a Domestic Payments Control Specialist within our Payments Centre of Excellence, this is working with our Faster Payments and Payment Hub service.

As Domestic Payments Control Specialist you will be working as a team to perform critical Faster Payment operational controls, managing exceptions, account clearance, and workflow management activities within clearly defined timescales.

Analysing and interrogating control outputs to detect potential issues; you will be working cross-functionally to resolve and remediate any anomalies and ensure controls are fit for purpose.

  • Performing, monitoring and assessing operational and accounting controls relating to Faster Payments and the Payments Hub

  • Maintaining the control frameworks to ensure processes and services for business area adhere to established standards and time frames

  • Producing diagnostic and analytical research to support process improvement opportunities and mitigation of potential risks

  • Collaborating with internal departments, stakeholders and foreign institutions to protect the bank and its customers

  • Delivering a high quality, flexible customer service which maximises customer satisfaction and consistently reinforces the strength of the Company brand

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Sound understanding of Domestic Payment Scheme rules, with the ability to interrogate and analyse information to determine appropriate responses, actions, procedural changes etc

  • The ability to interpret and interrogate complex data and processes beyond following simple instructions

  • Self-motivated with the ability to question and probe to enhance knowledge and source answers/define solutions to non-standard processes

  • An excellent team worker, with a ‘Can Do’, flexible approach to ensure the needs of the business are met across different work streams, also with the ability to work independently and to own initiative

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • The ability to quickly learn to navigate around multiple systems

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office suite

  • Risk/Data Analysis experience would be beneficial

What else you need to know:

This role is based in Bootle and you will be expected to spend two days per month of your time in this office.
