Our specialists are leaders in women’s healthcare — from routine checkups to treating complex medical conditions. Tradition Hospital’s Ambulatory OB/GYN practice is a busy department that provides women’s healthcare services to patients in St. Lucie County and Martin County. As a Medical Assistant on this team, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, families and visitors. You will assist other caregivers, nurses, and providers with multiple tasks, from medication administration to equipment management. This department can get busy, so the ideal candidate will be compassionate and capable of multi-tasking to meet patient needs. You may periodically float to the Stuart office, offering an additional way to grow and use your skills. Numerous professional development opportunities are also available, including committee involvement and My Learning courses.
A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 5:00PM or 7:30AM – 4:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist with performing screenings and treatments by gathering and updating information related to health maintenance, identifying medication changes, updating allergy information, collecting specimens, performing tests and documenting patient care.
Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
Maintain equipment, medical supplies and examination areas.
Perform administrative/clerical duties, such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an approved Medical Assisting program
Military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period
Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience
Current demonstrated clinical proficiency
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Medical Assisting certification (CMA, NCMA, CCMA)
Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship
OB/GYN experience
Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity to operate office equipment
Extended periods of standing, walking or sitting
Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision
Light Work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
