The Role
Working as a member of the Field Service team to manage the end-to-end process and delivery of the customer solution from construction of the network to installation of the fibre / equipment. Responsible for the maintenance and management of all physical infrastructure and for all network build and development. Working hand-in-hand with the Network Operations Centre when any outage is reported in response to fibre restoration and remote hands.
What will you be doing?
OSP and ISP fibres
- Manage the OSP and ISP survey and planning of duct / fibre routes and configuration
- Preferable with a engineering / telecommunication qualification
- Manage all fibre standards and new technologies
- Manage technical specification of fibre
- Manage the process of plant diversionary works, from application plant enquiry to physical moving of the duct and fibre if required (Lift and Shift)
- Attendance of Municipality coordination meeting
- Contractor Management
- Cost management and control of budgets
- Project management
- Network development including overbuild of new fibre installations and network extension
- Responsible for managing the quality of all OSP duct / fibre installations and ISP fibre installation
- Management of fibre testing OTDR, ILM, PMD
- Desktop Study (DTS) and feasibility study
- Site and contractor Audit
- Wayleave management
- Trespass and 3rd party claims
- Manage public liability claims liaising with legal
- Management of remote hands
- Project management for customer and network built
- Estimating and feasibility study for network development and sales team
GIS:
- Manage all OSP and ISP records using GIS systems
- As-Built records and data integrity management
- Fiber planning
- Handover package
Equipment / delivery responsibility:
- Manage equipment installations CPE, Network Layer 1 & 2, patch installation, structured cable and cross-connects
- System updating, data integrity
- Support our subcontractor with 100G, 400G, 1TG testing
What do we want from you?
- Strong background in network construction and fibre installation
- Qualified to manage construction field works and inspection
- Must have communication and/or civil engineering experience
- Experience in telecommunications legislation and standards
- Experience in field operations
- In depth knowledge of Data Centres and the installation of equipment
- Excellent customer relationship management skills
- In depth knowledge of fibre standards and testing procedure
- Works well under pressure
- Understanding of GIS functionality
- At least 10 years’ experience in diversified OSP/ISP installations
- Good management skills dealing with internal employees and external contractors
- Understanding of operation metrics and reporting requirements
- Able to project mange end 2 end customer installations
- In depth understanding of network development and the requirements around new build
- Understanding of planning requirements OSP/ISP duct and cable runs for customer connections
- Good verbal and written communication skills in French and English (German optional)
- Understanding for underlying physical layer (all fibre based) and transport protocols
