About the Role  

The Damage Prevention Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager at Bermex. This position plays a key role in managing our line locating crew, which covers the entire state. Ideal candidates are individuals with experience in the gas line locating field. This position is responsible for interfacing with customers, must hold a knowledge of industry standards, interface with management from within and outside of the department, and lead special initiatives in the Damage Prevention Department. This position also requires a high degree of organization, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day.  

  • Salary Transparency: For those living in NY, the pay for this role is a salary of $65,000/year.

What You’ll Do  

Manage line locating team:  

  • Travel to different project sites to meet with employees (~30% of the time)  

  • Field train locators on best practices and perform monthly audits  

  • Monitor ticket management system to ensure quality work  

  • Explain and demonstrate work tasks to new workers or assign training tasks to experienced workers  

  • Interpret transportation regulations, safety regulations, and company policies and procedures for workers  

  • Resolve worker problems and collaborate with employees to assist in problem resolution  

  • Assist workers in tasks, as needed, such as damage prevention tickets  

Assist with and maintain operations: 

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve issues ensuring deadlines are met  

  • Schedule and perform repairs or preventive maintenance of vehicles and other equipment  

  • Drive vehicles or equipment to complete work assignments or to assist workers  

  • Prepare, compile, and submit reports on work activities, operations, productivity, or work-related accidents  

  • Request personnel, supplies, equipment, parts, or repair services as needed  

Recommend and address key concerns in the operations processes:  

  • Work with manager and other leaders to identify and address inefficiencies and opportunities for cost reduction  

  • Partner with customers, managers, utility, or other personnel to ensure customer satisfaction with ongoing communication, cooperative problem management, and regular feedback on goal achievement or obstacles experienced  

  • Recommend and implement personnel actions, such as employee selection, evaluation, rewards, or disciplinary actions  

  • Recommend and implement measures to improve worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods, or customer services

About You  

Must haves:  

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED. Must be at least 21 years of age  

  • Experience: 3 years of gas line locating experience. At least 1 year of management experience. Upon hire, the candidate will need to complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training 

Nice to haves:  

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Management  

  • Experience: 5 or more years of gas line locating experience. At least 2 years of management experience 

Your Skills:  

  • Ability to multi-task, and work independently and as a team  

  • Exceptional and demonstrated leadership skills, especially in project management  

  • Knowledge and understanding of industry standards  

  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customers  

  • Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner  

  • Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding  

  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office (e.g., Microsoft Excel)

  • Drug/alcohol testing is required 

  • Drug/alcohol testing required per Non-Regulatory requirements for employees working with water, electric or meters 

  • Drug/alcohol testing required per Federal DOT regulations for employees working with gas meters

Where We Work   

Employees will begin their day at the local office where they will pick up their company vehicle, equipment, and assignments for the day.
