Job Summary:
Caterpillar Switchgear, part of the Electric Power Division, currently has an opening for a Software HMI Engineer located in Alpharetta, Georgia. In this role, you will design, modify, develop, write, and implement software-programming for generator control switchgear human machine interface applications. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.
What You Will Do:
Modify template HMI programs to coincide with project-specific PLC programs.
Modify Operator Manuals to reflect project specific HMI screens.
Configure industrial computers with software and HMI project.
Provide HMI Engineering/Technical support to Production, Helpdesk, Field Service and Aftermarket
Support various HMI packages such as FactoryTalk, Vijeo, iFix and GE
Will participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of the HMI software.
Will assist the Product Support Department with troubleshooting field HMI projects / remote PC configurations etc.
Will remain up to date with industry changes, directions and improvements regarding HMI and Network infrastructure.

Degree Requirement
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) or equivalent work experience preferred.

Records and reports specific technical problems, solving processes and tools that have been used.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Candidate must have programming experience, VB scripting, Java scripting.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Computer proficient including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Requires a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Programming Responsibilities: Develop custom reports via HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
Additional Information
This position will sit from Alpharetta, GA, in a hybrid flexible role (3 days in office, 2 days work from home).
5% travel will be needed to assist field representatives occasionally.
