Job Title: Patient Care Assistant (Veterinary)
Location: Cromwell Vets, Huntingdon

Salary: £24,045 per annum

Job type: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift Pattern: 
Shifts are 8 hours a day ranging from: 7:00 to 21:00 on a shift basis.

Weekends are 1 in 3 for a Saturday or Sunday shift dependent on rota requirements, with time given back in lieu the following week.

Bank holidays on a rota with fair opportunity.

Cromwell Veterinary Practice is looking for a dedicated Patient Care Assistant to join our compassionate and dynamic team!

At Cromwell, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of care to our patients and their families. As a PCA, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring our pets receive the attention and love they deserve.

Role and Responsibilities

Duties include:

  • General housekeeping such as cleaning and restocking the hospital

  • Deep cleans of areas for infection control

  • Preparing consult rooms and cleaning in between patients

  • Animal handling once trained, to assist the veterinary surgeons and nurses with clinical examinations and sample taking

  • Walking and feeding inpatients, preparing inpatient accommodation

  • Working in the laboratory area once trained including running a range of samples and machine quality control testing

  • Assisting with theatre preparation and cleaning/packing surgical equipment

  • Covering branches within Cromwell veterinary group to assist veterinary surgeons and nurses

We are looking for a candidate who is proactive, organised and able to prioritise tasks in a busy and demanding environment.

Previous animal experience and an understanding of how a veterinary hospital is run is preferred, but training on the job is available for the right candidate.

A love for animals is essential, and after a period of time on the job, there are opportunities for career progression.
