Job Description

General Summary 

Vertex is seeking an experienced and energized consolidation leader with accounting systems and process expertise to join our Global Accounting organization.   The Associate Director, Accounting Systems & Consolidation is responsible for overseeing the team’s performance of monthly consolidation tasks, supporting various process improvement and optimization initiatives, and collaborating with the IT department to enhance and upgrade key accounting systems. The ideal candidate is passionate about leveraging technology to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and modernize accounting processes. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Oversee team execution of the global consolidation process, focusing on accuracy and timely preparation of consolidated financial results 

  • Review, oversee and mentor teams performance monthly accounting activities, including currency translation adjustment and intercompany  

  • Collaborate with the IT team to optimize and enhance accounting applications such as Oracle, BlackLine, and HFM, including participation in testing, upgrades, and process improvements 

  • Collaborating with Finance on matters of data governance to optimize hierarchies 

  • Lead initiatives to streamline accounting workflows, implement automation, and introduce innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency 

  • Oversee the automation of intercompany accounting and development of the “Intercompany Center of Excellence” 

  • Maintain and ensure team robust performance of Financial Statement Close Process internal controls 

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Treasury on FX gain/loss (balance sheet hedges), Finance on process improvements, Tax on legal entity optimization, and other relevant teams 

  • Support special projects and key initiatives aligned with the organization’s strategic goals 

  • Mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented, and high-performance culture 

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and consolidation processes 

  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Oracle EBS, HFM, and BlackLine is preferred but not required 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail 

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of meeting tight deadlines 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams 

 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on systems and/or consolidations 

  • Proven expertise in financial consolidations, compliance, and accounting systems management 

Pay Range:

$148,000 - $222,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
