2026 Summer Intern - Portfolio Strategy & Delivery - Strategic Insights & Business Optimization

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
The Opportunity
Grow Your Biotech & R&D Literacy
Understand the basic lifecycle of a drug, such as key stages of the Clinical Phase I–IV drug development process, moving from the lab to the patient.
Scientific Data: Ability to critically evaluate scientific data while asking thought-provoking questions about the research and its business impact.
Engage in Business Value & Portfolio Concepts
Engage your enterprise mindset to understand how the data analysis we develop in SIBO can help the whole company perform better
Portfolio Theory: Basic knowledge of how companies manage a portfolio of different products to maximize business value.
Consultative Mindset: Being curious, proactive, and adaptable when collecting requirements from a stakeholder or other team members.
Apply Data Wrangling & Pipeline Basics
Data Cleaning: Ability to take primary and secondary data sources and clean them for accurate and meaningful analyses.
Wrangling Tools: Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL to manipulate and aggregate messy datasets.
Version Control: Basic experience using Git to collaborate on code and manage different versions of a project.
Apply Statistical Analysis & Descriptive Modeling
Analytical Approach: An understanding of different analytical approaches and when to use one over the other.
Exploratory Analysis: Experience in exploratory and confirmatory data analysis to help the team uncover insights.
Work with UI & BI Dashboards
Dashboard Design: Using BI tools like Tableau or PowerBI to create visual storytelling and user-friendly interfaces.
UI/UX Mindset: A focus on information visualization that makes it easy for others to connect the dots.
Communication: Ability to simplify and present complex concepts through clear, visual formats.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June 2026.
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Who You Are (Required)
Required Education
You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree.
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).
Must have attained a Master's Degree.
Required Majors: Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business or Economics, Physical Sciences (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
Required Skills:
Data Wrangling & Pipelines: Ability in Python, R, or SQL to clean, aggregate, and curate high-quality data using Git for version control.
Statistical Analysis: Able to apply descriptive and inferential statistical methods to conduct data analysis.
UI & BI Dashboards: Using Tableau or PowerBI to design reports for visualization and storytelling.
R&D & Scientific Literacy: A working knowledge of Phase I–IV drug development and ability to evaluate scientific data in this context.
Business & Portfolio Mindset: Understanding of business value concepts like Portfolio Theory.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $45.00-$50.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
