Enthought powers digital transformation for science. Our technology and deep scientific expertise enable faster discovery and continuous innovation. We solve complex problems for the most innovative and respected organizations across the life sciences, material sciences, chemical, and semiconductor industries.

As the creators of the SciPy package and founders of the conference for Scientific Computing with Python, we’ve been leaders of scientific software development for over 20 years. We are bringing the future closer by leveraging data strategy, modeling, simulation, and AI/ML to accelerate scientific discovery.

In this role, you will participate in solving complex research and product development problems in close collaboration with client researchers and business leaders. You will develop data-driven models, AI-based decision-support tools, and automate data analysis procedures. You will put these types of components together into web-based software solutions involving GUIs, 2D and 3D graphics, and cloud computing in a dynamic team-based environment. Some international travel to customer sites and working outside normal working hours may be required to keep in close contact with team members and international clients.

We are interested both in experienced applicants as well as recent graduates. Ideal applicants will have a graduate degree in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, solid state physics, or related discipline with a strong background in data science, as well as experience developing software tools to support R&D. Experience tackling diverse materials research problems from polymers to semiconductors to metals is desirable, as well as experience with both computational and experimental approaches. Applicants with excellent communications skills together with teaching and mentoring experience are also desired. More experienced applicants should have demonstrated experience developing and deploying Materials Informatics solutions in an academic or industrial setting and managing projects within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of statistics, optimization, image processing, signal processing, machine learning, or other similar areas in writing highly complex and innovative scientific software applications and algorithmic programs for customers in a variety of industries
  • Develop quantitative and technical solutions and applications involving graphical user interfaces, 2D and 3D graphics, workflow and pipeline architecture, distributed data management, and numerical algorithms for science and engineering service companies.
  • Understand problem domains and implement intuitive user interfaces geared toward the scientist, engineer, and analyst user
  • Craft readable, documented, and tested software following Enthought best practices
  • Participate in collaborative software development practices with a team: release planning, architecture reviews, code review, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, daily standups
  • Interface with clients at Enthought or client offices (as directed by the Consulting Manager or their proxy) to define, demonstrate, and refine software solutions

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in computer science, software development, or a related field
  • Material Informatics background preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of technical lead or software development experience with 4 or more years preferred
  • Ability to understand a problem domain and then conceive of and implement an intuitive user interface geared toward the user
  • Discipline, pride, and professionalism to write readable, documented, and unit-tested code that serves as an example to those who study your work
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to satisfying the customer
  • Experience with Python and its scientific ecosystem, and a strong understanding of how to apply its capabilities to develop visualizations, work flow frameworks, and elegant scientific applications
  • Strong understanding of statistics, optimization, image processing, signal processing, or other similar area

What we offer
