The Corporate Tax team is essential to the success of UMB. This team works to increase shareholder value by minimizing the corporate tax burden and maintaining compliance with the tax laws. We are an “in-house” tax department that will utilize outside specialists when needed.  We love tax, love problem solving, and take the time to learn and educate others.

Working in the Corporate Tax team at UMB can be fun and collaborative. We are a close-knit team of associates that work together and support one another. We take the time to educate ourselves on issues and stay up to date with tax law changes and their impact on UMB.  We produce quality workpapers, supporting memos and documentation for tax re‐ turns and positions. Our department meetings are collaborative and a place where we engage in tax discussions to learn from each other. 

As the Corporate Tax Intern, you will be responsible for assistance with the Corporate Tax functions, which includes tax return compliance, accounting for income taxes, information reporting and tax research projects. This opportunity will allow students to gain experience and insight into the inner workings of a Corporate Tax department at a diverse financial institution.

How you will spend your time:

  • You will assist with the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns.
  • You will participate in tax planning projects and other tax-related initiatives
  • You will perform tax research on federal and state tax issues
  • You will assist with tax provisions (ASC 740) calculations and analysis
  • You will design or modify Excel worksheets for current year tax data or other special projects
  • You will prepare local city/county business licenses

We’re excited to talk with you if:

  • You have completed at least two years in an undergraduate program in Accounting (tax specialty preferred)
  • You have strong teamwork and communication skills with a desire to learn more about Corporate Tax
  • You are interested in going into public accounting and/or wanting to sit for the CPA exam

This position is in a full time Hybrid position working remotely on Monday and Friday, and in office Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Compensation Range:

Minimum: $25,640.00 - Maximum: $59,330.00
