Your Role  

As a part of our growth strategy, we are opening a number of roles in the Networks area, that would suit platform engineers with a growth mindset. The role of Platform Engineer is to design, build, run and evolve tools, infrastructure, templates and capabilities that our other engineers use to deliver business value, and to write code that automates running our infrastructure and environments. 

To achieve this, your role will require you to: 

  • Work within a team environment and across business units to complete associated tasks including network software patching, vulnerability assessment, execute changes, generate reports, problems and incident management. 

  • Collaboratively work with engineering teams to design, build and run platforms that they can use to deliver customer value at greater quality, velocity, and safety. 

  • Provide technical input and advice to projects to ensure alignment to Cyber Security, Network Architecture, and operational stability of CBA’s network assets. 

  • Maintain the underlying infrastructure to ensure that it is reliable, secure and scalable.  troubleshooting and resolving network incidents 

  • Supporting and implementation of changes outside of regular business hours. 

  • After hours on-call (rotation basis) and travelling to data centre locations 

 

Your Skills and Experiences  

Essential: 

  • Proven experience in network technology implementation and maintenance in a large-scale organization, with a strong understanding of complex network architectures 

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps (including on-call responsibilities) and network automation, with expertise in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell 

  • In-depth knowledge of data centre network builds, with the ability to travel to Sydney-based data centres for site visits and project execution 

  • Practical experience working with popular automation frameworks, including Ansible, Terraform, and DNA Centre 

Desirable: 

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as a Code (IaaC) concepts and tools, such as AWS CloudFormation or Azure Resource Manager 

  • Hands-on experience integrating with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems to enhance network security and monitoring capabilities 

  • Specialized knowledge of development and design methodologies, including Agile and SDLC principles 

  • Previous experience working within the Financial Services industry, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks
