About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Management Officer


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex initiatives designed to mitigate current and emerging risks with broad impact
  • Act as key participant in monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the impact of decisions practiced in Control Management functional area
  • Monitor moderately complex business specific programs, and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk-mitigation strategies
  • Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area
  • Develop and implement risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls
  • Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations, and provide guidance in developing and implementing risk-mitigating strategies
  • Lead Control Management project or virtual teams


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively listen and elicit information

  • Experience leading, training, and providing feedback to staff and corresponding managers

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to identify and resolve problems

  • Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines coupled with experience renegotiating times lines when needed.

  • Audit or internal control evaluation experience preferably within the financial services industry.

  • Experience drafting and executing control evaluation test scripts to assess the design and performance of internal controls.

  • Proficiency with risk types, methodologies and frameworks for evaluating or testing controls and assessing results, conducting research, and identifying control deficiencies.

  • Experience in assessing risk, reviewing risk ratings, and identifying control deficiencies.

  • Experience evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls; additional experience analyzing business and/or systems changes to determine impact.

  • Ability to mentor teams

  • Risk management experience with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to drive improvements.

  • Proficient at influencing and consulting strategically across a large organization and with various levels of leadership/stakeholders.

  • Experience communicating in both written and verbal formats with senior executive-level leaders.

  • Balance strong, innovative problem solving skills with the practical ability to implement workable solutions to problems in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

Job Expectations:

  • Experience in Risk Management domain and Risk Programs, including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics, Issue Management, and governance

  • Strong knowledge of the Operational Risk Framework and disciplines primarily in the Banking industry and its related operations                                 

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate complex information in a clear, concise manner. Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation

  • Audit and/or controls testing experience

  • Strong time management skills and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Must have demonstrated strong technical writing skills including the proven ability to clearly document activities, processes and test results

  • Experience with developing and creating documentation for support and training activities

  • Critical thinking and Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong comprehension/ability to learn technology tools, communication & analytical skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work with and communicate with all levels of the organization

  • Build, consult & maintain strong working relationships with inter-departments & stakeholders

  • Ability to identify inefficiencies, opportunities to streamline business processes, and implement change

  • Proficiency with MS office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS-Visio

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and be adaptable to changing work priorities
