This program immerses students into the daily operation of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. The student becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units.
Organization & Team Overview
Comcast’s Technology, Product & Experience (TPX) organization works at the intersection of media and technology. Our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products that transform the customer experience. From creating apps like Xfinity Stream to new features such as the voice remote on the X1 platform, we work every day to make a positive impact through innovation in the pursuit of building amazing products that are enjoyable, easy to use and accessible across all platforms. The team also develops and supports our evolving network architecture, including next-generation consumer systems and technologies, infrastructure and engineering, network integration and management tools, and technical standards.
Role Description
Are you curious about App Developer experiences and building platforms-as-products? Do you love streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+ and Peacock? Is your happy place the three-way intersection of technology, entertainment and product? Can your writing skills capture the attention of any reader?
As an App Platform Product and Technical Writing Intern in the TPX Global Platform Organization, you will have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to specifications, APIs, and SDKs that enable app partners to develop and deploy Streaming Apps on our products for Comcast, Sky and our Syndication partners around the world. You will be part of developing the documentation for a globally available Developer Portal used by partners like Google, BBC, and Apple, while also submitting and ratifying contributions to the open-source specifications used by operators like Xfinity, Sky, and Charter. You will learn about developing apps for our products, as well as what it means to develop platforms-as-products. You will also have the opportunity to shadow our app partner management team to see how our major app partners are onboarded and integrated into our products.
The App Platform Product Team is embedded in the TPX Global Platform Management organization. We are a technically oriented Product team who oversee the backend systems and tools that power our product experiences, working closely with Product Management, Architecture and Engineering teams across Xfinity and Sky. Our team leads both platform development for the technologies that app partners use to run on our products around the world, as well as work with our app partners to integrate into our products. You will work closely with our product managers, app partner management team, and technical teams to understand the App Platforms and how we can improve the App Developer experience.
What are some interesting problems the student will work on?
In your role, you will be synthesizing observations and feedback from app partners and app partner management as to how we can improve app developer experiences. You will be working closely with our team of technical writers, product managers and architects to write real live documentation that we will be publishing to developer portals. You will learn about principles of open standards, and best practices for writing great, clear documents that appeal to your audience.

You’ll be working with the best and brightest minds in Comcast while we evolve and evangelize our App Platform. Your contributions will directly lead to apps being rapidly deployed to millions of devices worldwide. As well as being part of the launch of new devices & platforms used by the top operators in North America and Europe. Success in this role is characterized by the adoption of the App Platform’s specification, SDKs, and APIs by app developers and internal product & engineering teams. The acceleration of app launches to millions of households, increasing external developer satisfaction, and growing awareness and familiarity amongst internal engineering teams will be your legacy in this role.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Learn about the App Platform technologies and components and how they are used
Participate in Agile planning and ceremonies with the product, writing and engineering teams
Write and edit professional-grade documentation with the guidance and mentorship of senior product, writing and technical managers
Gather feedback in various forms from app developers and app partner management to inform the documentation process and product
Join cross-functional, cross-team meetings and forums to learn and experience more about how platforms-as-products are envisioned, developed and brought to market
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred Skills
You are a computer science engineer who wants to explore product management and understand how to bring technology platforms to market with world-class documentation, OR a passionate writing major who wants to learn about product management, coding practices and explore applied technical writing career paths.
Strong communication and writing skills
Ability to self-organize and prioritize work within a team setting
Familiarity with, or desire to learn high-level principles around, APIs, SDKs, coding languages such as ECMAScript, and JSON (actual coding not required in this role)
Passion for entertainment and streaming apps
Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Media, English
Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university
Rising Junior or Rising Senior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2025- Spring 2027)
Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2025 semester before graduating)
Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 2 through August 15, 2025
Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Base Pay: $32.00Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
