Job summary:
Acrisure is seeking an experienced OCIP Safety Manager to support construction projects operating under an Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP). This role is responsible for overseeing on-site safety operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and driving adherence to OCIP program requirements across active construction sites.
The OCIP Safety Manager serves as the primary safety resource on-site, partnering closely with contractors, project leadership, and regulatory representatives to proactively identify risks, enforce safety standards, and maintain a culture of safety. This individual will conduct daily site reviews, lead safety audits and reporting, and ensure that all incidents, training, and compliance documentation are handled in alignment with established policies and procedures.
This opportunity is best suited for a safety professional with strong construction site experience, deep knowledge of OSHA requirements, and familiarity with OCIP or similar large-scale insurance-controlled project environments. Candidates who are hands-on, detail-oriented, and confident managing safety compliance across multiple stakeholders will thrive in this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee construction site safety operations and audit contractor compliance with OCIP and safety program requirements
  • Conduct daily safety reviews of work in progress and perform ongoing site inspections
  • Monitor adherence to the OCIP safety manual, OSHA regulations, and all applicable safety standards
  • Identify safety hazards and work directly with contractor representatives to mitigate risks in real time
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports and provide analysis as requested
  • Ensure contractors are properly reporting recordable injuries and near-miss incidents within required timelines
  • Participate in site inspections, testing, and permitting activities (e.g., confined space, hot work, trenching)
  • Attend project meetings and deliver safety updates, reporting, and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Accompany OSHA representatives during site visits to observe and document compliance activities
  • Verify completion of required safety training, including new hire orientations and ongoing tailgate meetings
  • Enforce compliance with safety policies and address non-compliance issues in alignment with program guidelines
  • Lead safety stand-downs following incidents to educate teams and prevent recurrence
Requirements:
  • Direct experience in construction safety management, including on-site safety oversight
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and their application within construction environments
  • Experience working with Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP) or similar insurance-controlled projects
  • Proven ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
  • Experience identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions in active jobsite environments
  • Ability to manage safety reporting, including incident tracking and regulatory documentation
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence contractors and project teams
  • Experience participating in regulatory inspections and interfacing with OSHA representatives
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accountability in safety documentation
Education and licenses:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field beneficial
  • OSHA certifications (e.g., OSHA 30) strongly preferred
  • Additional safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST) considered an asset
