The Senior HR Business Partner will be part of the Human Resources team based in Houston, TX supporting the US Onshore Resources and Carbon Management (ORCM) business segment.
Responsibilities:
- Provides HR support to a client base, ranging from 100 to 500 employees located in multiple locations across CO, NM, and TX for US. Onshore Oil and Gas.
- Provides appropriate balance between employee advocacy and responsibility to act as a business partner in advising management on effective ways to resolve employee issues.
- Supports the health, safety, environment, and security objectives of the business for the protection of its employees and the communities in which the company operates.
- Serve as a strategic HR advisor to operational leaders, aligning people strategies with business goals and operational priorities.
- Partner with leaders on workforce planning, staffing strategies, organizational design, and capability development.
- Facilitate talent discussions and support the execution of talent processes, including succession planning, performance management, development planning, and retention strategies.
- Use HR data and insights to identify trends, assess risks, and recommend actions that improve organizational effectiveness.
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters, performance management, policy interpretation, and corrective action.
- Coach leaders on effective people management, communication, accountability, and team development.
- Support timely and consistent resolution of workplace concerns in alignment with policy and business needs.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure effective recruitment and onboarding for key roles within assigned groups.
- Maintain regular communication and visibility with field and office employees to support engagement and operational continuity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Compensation, HR Operations, Legal, HSE, Occupational Health) to deliver consistent HR solutions.
- Support organizational initiatives, change efforts, and HR projects enhancing employee experience and operational performance.
- Ensure HR practices comply with applicable federal and state laws.
- Assist with workforce reporting, analyses, and documentation as needed.
- Travel up to 30% to field locations and offices as business needs require.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related academic field.
- 10+ years of HR generalist or HRBP experience, preferably in operations-heavy environments.
- Strong capability in employee relations, leader coaching, and organizational effectiveness.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to build justifications using data through interpretation of data, manipulation of data to provide and develop actionable efforts i.e. programs, policies, procedures to pro-actively support business needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrate good judgement.
- Experience and comfort in consulting with line managers; ability to provide candid and direct feedback.
- Passion to help define and enhance existing processes.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
- Ability to remain flexible and shift priorities quickly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and sound judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms (Workday preferred).
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Experience supporting field, plant, or industrial operations.
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed teams in oil & gas or similar industries.
