Pratt Miller is looking for an engineer for a Quality Engineer II position to support programs throughout the phases of our product development lifecycle from prototype through low-volume production in an ISO 9001 certified engineering and manufacturing environment. A successful Quality Engineer II will work with cross-functional project teams in understanding customer quality requirements using quality tools in developing and implementing control plans to ensure these requirements are met or exceeded. In addition to the internal cross-functional team, this position will interact with both supplier and customer engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams on quality planning, deliverables, and problem solving.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with product development team to understand and interpret customer requirements
  • Work with quality lab team to implement processes to ensure customer and program requirements are met
  • Examine incoming parts and documentation to confirm correct specifications and established standards are met
  • Use problem solving techniques such as 8D to determine root causes of issues and coordinate a cross-functional team to develop corrective actions
  • Participate in DFM/DFA reviews with engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Contribute to PFMEA development with manufacturing engineering team
  • Develop robust control plans to ensure quality standards are met
  • Understanding of measurement and verification methods and applications
  • Contribute to the design on in-process and end of line gauging or tests to ensure requirements are satisfied
  • Support manufacturing team from a quality perspective in the implementation and development of new processes
  • Create, review, and approve internal and supplier FAIR and/or PPAP documentation
  • Able to interface with cross-functional teams to accomplish tasks
  • Track, record, and maintain quality data
  • Perform audits of production processes, both internally and at suppliers
  • Communicate in a professional manner, both verbally and written
  • Proficient with Windows based computers and MS software such as Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Familiar with CAD software to review models
  • Able to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • BS or MS in mechanical, manufacturing, or similar engineering field required
  • 3-5 years of work experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment, preferably in the defense industry
  • Solid foundational knowledge of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read blueprints and experience with GD&T symbols

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Position requires occasional light to moderate physical activity

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday
  • 45-hour standard work week
  • Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate fixed deadlines, sometimes working longer hours, Saturdays, and/or Sundays

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • In person position
  • Combination of office and manufacturing areas
  • Periodic travel may be required
  • Stress may occur periodically

Pay Range:

$64,500.00 - $103,500.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
