Why this role is important?
Basic Function
The Medical Clinical Assistant role provides a level of administrative support and coordination to rheumatologists, SHN clinic staff and site manager at the Calgary North East Clinic Specialty Health Network.
Nature and Scope
The Medical Clinical Assistant at the Calgary North East (CNE) clinic is the face for the clinic to all patients and visitors. The Receptionist ensures that patients are dealt with in a timely and respectable manner in order to leave a lasting impression of professionalism reflecting our CORE values. The incumbent will require professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality and be able to work independently with good Computer Skills.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsible for managing CNE clinic Reception; greeting patients, manage in-bound calls/faxes and redirecting and triaging as necessary, manage and update patient arrival status including those using the self-check-in Kiosk, ensure appointment forms are completed and direct patients to appropriate doctor/room/area
Manage appointment booking (new, follow up, change, cancel) and patient waitlist (if any)
Manage appointment reminder for all bookings (rheumatologists and infusions) to minimize no-shows
Complete and maintain patient demographic information in the CNE electronic systems including 3rd party insurance and ensure all required enrollment documentation is completed and submitted on time.
Hand lab work printouts and post appointment documents to patients
Confirm CT, MRI and other specialists appointments for patients
Support rheumatologists and clinic staff handling administrative requests
Responsible for managing/ordering office supplies
Responsible for managing/ordering clinic and exam room supplies
Qualifications and Skills
Excellence in Customer Service
Minimum 2 years Reception experience
Excellent organizational skills and communication skills
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
Knowledge of Medical Electronic Records such as Accuro an asset
Demonstrates communication with various departments, written and verbal
