C&IE Manager is responsible for planning, direct, and manage aspects of costing, and Industrial engineering team and its activities in SEA region. This position provides the leadership and expertise to ensure all costing, engineering projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with the company’s established policies and objectives. This position will manage a team of specialists included costing specialist, IE specialist and material usage specialist.
Primary Essential Functions/Responsibilities: • Providing the leadership to C&IE team including leading, motivating, supporting & educating the C&IE team to achieve the expectation in accordance with LO and global manufacturing goals. • Accountable for setting, Implementing & maintaining labor cost standards through GSD methodology, methods & process engineering standards, practicing & implementing Lean manufacturing techniques and project management in Columbia Sportswear. • Accountable of costing standards within regions to achieve a fact based, transparent and sustainable costing • Accountable for drafting, initiate and execute regional strategies of increasing supplier’s efficiency and product cost competitiveness in conjunction with global manufacturing strategy • Accountable for factory’s efficiency improvement program and product value engineer initiatives to ensure the product margin target achieved for business in the region • Driving the lean culture and manufacturing practices and best practices sharing.
Secondary Functions and Responsibilities
• Accountable for successfully rolling out GSD implementation at the Regional LO’s and with selected vendors for the GSD roll out.
• Provide the economic trend information, included labor rates, Inflations, exchange rate and governments policy changes, necessary for formulate sourcing strategies, global costing policies and costing tools
• Driving the process improvement initiatives that impact product cost efficiency and overhead
• Profitability-supporting merchandising teams in achieving brand margin target by driving the factory’s efficiency improvement program and product value engineer initiatives.
• Train and support Merchandising teams and vendors in the understanding and application of cost drivers, costing frameworks, policies and processes, including application of consistent, accurate and transparent cost sheets
• Improving LO and vendors’ costing performance efficiency and effectiveness through costing and Industrial engineering projects/initiatives.
• Provide the support to product and quality engineering teams to enable robust development of product which reduces quality failure and helps in efficient manufacturing of bulk.
• Responsible to evaluate the process complexity, manufacturing feasibility, machinery limitations and estimation of labour content and quality for INNOVATION product commercialization.
• Execute projects as assigned by the Functional leadership and/or local management with regional factories.
• Secure the organization in accordance with current and future needs and challenges

Interpersonal Contacts: - Internal: Costing team, PE/FE, DC team, Global costing leadership team, Sourcing Team, Merchandisers, Quality, Production and Technical team. - External: Vendor’s management and staff level.

Job involves a high degree of complexity or difficulty in performing work situations which frequently vary from the norm. Requires the ability to react to both short term problems and long-term goals. Errors in judgment can have significant negative impacts on the profitability, quality and timely delivery of Columbia Sportswear Company’s product and may result in decreased sales and/or profits, and/or a negative impact to the Company’s reputation.
Education and/or Experience:
• 8-10 years of experience in costing and Industrial Engineering including understanding of manufacturing cost, product cost, lean concepts, process mapping and cost reengineering preferably in Apparel or related field.
• Strong understanding of materials and textile knowledge including fibre, yarns, knit and woven fabrications, textile manufacturing, dyeing and finishing. Apparel design, development process knowledge and computer skills are necessary.
• Knowledge of GSD and standardization practices is required.
• Knowledge of global benchmarks and industry benchmarks is an added advantage
• Requires a well-developed ability to read, write, and speak English, in relation to topics of a highly complex or technical nature.
• Strong understanding of regional wages and global cost drivers specific to the apparel industry
• Ability to lead in ambiguous situations and able to prioritize, organize, provide focus and direction to staff
