Warehouse Services Summer Temp is responsible for working in a team environment, exercising good judgment, and providing support and supplies to the University for Special Events and moving various items for a wide variety of university departments. The Summer Temp should be able to assist with numerous moving and logistics projects, which include set-up of event material, moving furniture and/or warehouse materials. The Warehouse Services Summer Temp reports to the Director and Managers of Warehouse Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Material Movement Responsibilities:

  • Deliver items to and from Central Receiving and the 12th St. storage facility.
  • Assist other departments of the University in moving items from one area to another.
  • Perform office moves for various departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver, set up and break down University Materials.
  • Deliver and move departmental items for the University.
  • Deliver and move office furniture for the University.

Other:

  • Set up and tear down convocation chairs and staging.
  • Clean and assist in routine maintenance of equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of a routine nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Frequently handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 100 or fewer pounds.

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is both an indoor and outdoor setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements

If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel.  Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
