CoE, PLM Upgrade Engineer

Location: Pune

PTC Center of Excellent (CoE) team is chartered to execute upgrades of PTC Products hosted by PTC and provided as a service to PTC customers. In order to keep up with the upgrades of PLM Customers, PLM CoE Upgrade team is looking for a PLM Upgrades Engineer that will execute the PLM Upgrade projects. If you are highly organized, self-motivated, action-oriented and enjoy interacting and communicating with people at all levels, we want to speak with you about a position within our high performing CoE team.

The person in this role will report to the CoE PLM Upgrade Manager and is responsible hands on execution of the upgrades of PLM Products.  Desired outcomes include executing different phases of the PLM upgrade projects, from request phase till hypercare, motivating project members inside and outside the cloud organization, while ensuring on time and quality delivery.

In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing client requirements; executing product upgrade steps as defined by the product team on the hosted Windchill Servers, documenting, supporting, and ensuring quality Implementation and Education Content deliverables for the projects assigned to you. The deliverables will be produced based on the specific PLM Upgrades Processes and tools.

Day-To-Day:

  • Participate in project initiation by analyzing and providing hosted environment details and application details that are currently provided as a service to specific customers.
  • Work on Windchill Upgrades on PTC Hosted environments for customers, both on Private Cloud (AWS) and Windchill+ (Azure)
  • Participate in Upgrade project calls and Stand-up meetings to provide updates on assigned tasks and report challenges
  • Create and maintain details documentation, capturing the technical steps followed for Upgrading Windchill Application
  • Work directly with Cloud support teams to establish/create/update cloud infrastructure requirements related to the Hosted environments
  • Collaborate with Product Support team, to address Product related issues observed/reported post upgrade of the Windchill Application


Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge with PTC PLM Windchill Product Suite – Especially around the Technical Upgrade Process like Runtime, Customizations, installations, rehosts, winDu, winRU and Upgrade Manager utility
  • Comfortable with basic Linux commands and operations
  • Basic AWS, networking experience
  • Strong motivation to learn new technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Good understanding on Cloud Infrastructure and Operations
  • Exposure to ITIL framework and processes
  • Proficiency in web development technologies, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, Single Sign on technologies like Ping Federate and shibboleth would be an added advantage
  • Strong understanding of middleware application software including Apache and Tomcat is preferred
  • Basic Project Management Capabilities
  • Working knowledge in ServiceNOW tool is preferred
  • Based on project needs, availability to work night and weekends

Basic Qualifications:

  • Assoc. degree in a technical field (IT, CS, Programming, etc.) + 5 years of technical work experience OR Bachelors in a technical field (IT, CS, Programming, etc.) + 3 year of technical work experience.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and spoken communication skills
