JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Responsibilities:

  • Gathers data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, logs and external datasets; scrubs and cleans data to remove inconsistencies, errors or missing values, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
  • Converts raw data into a format suitable for analysis which might involve normalization, aggregation, or other transformations.
  • Assists in building models to forecast future trends or outcomes based on historical data.
  • Develops charts, graphs, and dashboards to present data in a visually understandable manner while communicating findings effectively to all types of stakeholders through compelling narratives supported by visualizations.
  • Prepares regular reports or ad-hoc analyses for management while tracking and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of business operations.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, developers, and stakeholders, to understand data requirements and provide insights.
  • Conducts data mapping exercises, identifying data sources, understanding data structures, and profiling data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to gather and document detailed requirements for data-related projects and works closely with data engineers to understand data structures, storage, and retrieval mechanisms, ensuring that insights can be effectively implemented.
  • Translates data-driven insights into clear user stories or business requirements that can guide the development of data-related solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in tools such as SQL, Excel, Python, or R for data querying, manipulation and analysis, as well as data wrangling using libraries
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning concepts
  • Knowledge of ETL processes to manipulate and manage data
  • Familiarity with reporting tools to generate reports and compelling visualizations for stakeholders
  • Flexibility to adapt to new technologies, tools, and methodologies as the field of data analytics evolves
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement or areas where analysis can add value
  • Understanding of data governance, modelling, and quality methods/processes to support initiatives in these areas

  • Leads projects or work streams independently and contributes to their planning
  • May act as professional expertise information resource for colleagues in own area, advising on a particular topic with a degree of authority
  • Requires advanced problem-solving skills involving filtering, interpretation and validation of dynamic information

  • May coordinate resources for a small team and contribute to the effectiveness of their contributions to the broader area
