Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Network Designer (Associate or Mid-Level) to join the team in either El Segundo, CA; North Charleston, SC; or Seal Beach, CA.

Boeing Information Technology Network Infrastructure Services is currently looking for a Local Area Network (LAN) Designer to join our global team. This position will focus on creation and maintenance of network infrastructure in our manufacturing, service, and office locations around the globe.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, analyzes and documents requirements for network LAN technologies and services (e.g., voice, video, data, wireless, cable, wire) based on customer goals, objectives, cost and security constraints, to lead the design process

  • Works collaboratively with other stakeholders (Transport, Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN), Structured Cabling, Project Manager, etc.) in focused, agile-inspired sprint teams

  • Creates and documents designs that conform to architectural and security standards to meet customer requirements, using design templates and standard implementation packages

  • Coordinates and provides consultative support for routine implementation packages per Boeing standards

  • Provides Level 3 Incident/Problem Management support in preventative, proactive and reactive maintenance to meet service restoration and network availability objectives, using network analysis and monitoring tools

  • Supports and participates in component research to provide input for more comprehensive evaluation

  • Coordinates high level implementation planning for tactical multi-technology insertion projects, using established project management methodologies for the purpose of controlling costs and ensuring adherence to project plan

  • Exercises critical thinking and innovative problem solving

This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Design, Implementation and Troubleshooting of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN)

  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches & Cisco IOS implementations

  • Experience utilizing Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) network protocols

  • Experience with Cisco wireless technologies

  • Ability to support after-hours change windows and implementations

  • Willing to cover on call shifts, including weekends and after hours

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • CCNA, CCNP or other Cisco Certification

  • Experience with any of the following: Ansible (Python/Jinga2), Python scripting, Regular Expression, Serial Data Structures (YAML/JASON), or Splunk/Analytics

  • Experience with Palo Alto next generation firewall systems

  • Leadership experience

Typical Education & Experience:

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 year's related work experience, etc.).

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range for Associate: $75,650 – $109,250

Summary pay range for Mid-Level: $94,350 – $136,850
