About you and this role:

You will be responsible for people leadership of 324 Operators and interfacing with business counterparts to optimize plant activities to meet the business plan for 322, 324, and 328 building within Organo Silanes & Silicones (OSS).

Responsibilities include providing facility-specific expertise to achieve EHS&S, production, and cost targets, and provides direct people leadership of the Operators/Operating Technicians. As a leader, fosters a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong safety focus that embraces inclusion and diversity, innovation and sustainability, continuous improvement, and empowerment.  Accountable for the performance and results of their team and understands the plant/department strategy, value added activities criteria and day to day operations.  As a PC, works with scheduler, area planner, GSCP's, product managers, maintenance, and plant operational resources to effectively plan and execute the production schedule for assets within OSS. This role also serves as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products. Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines to solve complex problems.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Enabling execution of operating discipline, applied management systems (MOC understanding, RTO, Procedure Use, etc.) and LCS adherence.
  • Ensures Operations personal are positioned with the appropriate resources to pass the Operator certification process.
  • Develops operations employees and ensures success via goal-setting, performance management, promotion processes, and employee development plans.
  • Partners with other Plant Leadership Roles to understand skill/growth needs of the team and provides coaching of team members as needed.
  • Demonstrates business acumen to make best overall decisions for production and resolve production challenges.
  • Network with site and global PCs to optimize supply chain for MIOPS.
  • Serves as key PC interface for MIOPS with Carrolton, and works to balance flow of materials between the sites.
  • Communicates issues and successes as appropriate throughout the supply chain and operations team.
  • Works closely with the operations team leveraging their problem solving skills and technical expertise.
  • Elevates and appropriately applies knowledge of the plant and technology referencing historical data and conferring with Technology Center or other subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Mentors other engineers and interns to develop technical and business skills.
  • Leads site project teams to improve productivity and cost for the site.
  • Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET) is understood and utilized and that process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.
  • Partners with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve and document operating discipline.
  • Diagnoses and documents root causes of asset utilization losses in the facility.
  • Understands why specific procedure steps and precautions are needed and keeps a strong field presence to reinforce the importance.
  • Conducts daily review of logbook and alarm history to better understand the plant operation and stay engaged with daily activities.
  • Maintains, owns, and reviews daily Key Process Indicators (KPI)/ trends to ensure optimum performance.
  • Responds urgently to plant issues and emergencies.
  • Acts as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provides leadership, expertise, diagnosis, and optimization in plant Raw Material Efficiency, which may include yield or waste generation.
  • Ensures compliance with plant operating permits. Understands site integration and provides input to optimize the overall system.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 4 years manufacturing experience
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U. S. permanent residency (green card) process

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Work in an area with hazardous materials

Preferred Skills:

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience
  • A degree discipline in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
