We are looking for a Continuous Improvement & Technical Training Lead to drive operational excellence while strengthening workforce capability. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is passionate about Lean transformation, developing people, and improving performance across safety, quality, and productivity.

What You’ll Do:

This role leads continuous improvement initiatives while partnering with plant leadership to build technical capability and close skill gaps across the workforce.

Continuous Improvement (Primary Focus):

  • Lead and facilitate Lean initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Kanban, PDCA)
  • Analyze data to identify waste, bottlenecks, and process improvement opportunities
  • Develop and implement standard work and visual management systems
  • Drive improvements in safety, quality, throughput, and cost performance
  • Conduct regular shop floor observations across shifts to identify gaps
  • Lead root cause analysis (5-Why) and structured problem solving
  • Track and report progress against KPIs and savings targets

Technical Training & Development (Secondary Focus):

  • Assess workforce skill levels and identify training and development needs
  • Support onboarding and training programs for new hires and existing employees
  • Partner with supervisors and QA to improve job knowledge, certifications, and safety behaviors
  • Coach employees on best practices, work processes, and hazard awareness
  • Help develop and support train-the-trainer and mentoring programs
  • Align training initiatives to operational metrics (TRIR, DART, turnover, productivity)
  • Collaborate with corporate resources to deploy training programs and tools

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking a driven, hands-on leader who can influence change and build capability across the organization.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing, rail, or industrial environments
  • Experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies
  • Strong ability to coach, train, and influence employees at all levels 
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, HR, or related field
  • Experience with technical training, workforce development, or onboarding programs
  • Knowledge of AAR/FRA regulations and rail industry standards
  • Experience implementing systems like LMS, Kanban, PFEP, or visual management tools

Work Environment:

  • Significant time spent on the shop floor in an industrial environment
  • Exposure to equipment, noise, and varying weather conditions
  • Physical activity including walking, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Required use of PPE and adherence to all safety standards
  • Occasional off-shift support to engage all team

  • Location: Logansport, Indiana
  • Shift: Primarily First Shift, Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
  • Compensation: Base Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

69,525.00 - 84,975.00
