Job Description

Position Summary:

Brookfield is recruiting for an Intern to join the Renewable Power & Transition team in Toronto or New York. This role sits at the intersection of investing and applied AI, with a mandate to design and deploy practical tools that enhance the infrastructure investment process.

From day one, you will operate as a member of the investment team, building AI-enabled workflows that improve company screening, market monitoring, financial analysis, and portfolio benchmarking. The focus is on developing scalable, production-ready solutions that are used in live transactions and ongoing asset management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish an AI tool to automate the initial draft of screening memos in Brookfield’s format, leveraging public information and confidential information memoranda.

  • Build AI tools to summarize earnings calls and analyst research for public companies within our clean energy coverage universe.

  • Deploy automated daily and weekly summary emails using AI agents to track announcements, transactions, and sector developments.

  • Create a standardized financial model template to support screening memos and early-stage underwriting.

  • Develop an internal benchmarking tool to analyze operating costs and generation performance across North American clean energy assets, identifying potential issues and opportunities.

  • Automate the update and distribution of internal public company tracking materials.

  • Partner closely with investment professionals to integrate outputs into live transactions and investment committee materials, ensuring adherence to Brookfield’s data governance and confidentiality standards.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree or MBA in a relevant field, with applied experience in AI/ML (e.g., building models, automations, or LLM-enabled workflows).

  • Experience in investment banking (M&A), private equity, infrastructure, or related investing/strategy roles preferred (renewable power / real assets exposure an asset).

  • Strong grounding in accounting, valuation, and financial modeling; ability to build and audit models independently.

  • Demonstrated analytical rigor, sound judgment, and attention to detail; able to translate ambiguous problems into practical outputs.

  • High ownership, strong communication skills, and ability to work effectively with investment professionals in a team environment.

Brookfield is committed to maintaining a Positive Work Environment that is safe and respectful; our shared success depends on it.  Accordingly, we do not tolerate workplace discrimination, violence or harassment.

We are proud to create a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are grateful for your interest in this position, however, only candidates selected for pre-screening will be contacted.
