-Children's
-Hand
-Oncology
-Shoulder
-Sports

Reports to Senior Director
Significant amount of time is spent in a leadership position, performing program management and administrative responsibilities, including all HR issues
Directly oversees and is accountable for the performance of a team of APPs and/or other direct reports
Responsible for hiring, disciplinary action, performance evaluations, mentoring for professional advancement, etc.
Supports overall MGB healthcare organization initiatives
5+ years of APP experience; 2+ years of management experience preferred
Collaborates with service line Senior Directors, Division Chiefs and Inpatient, Ambulatory and Quality Vice Chairs.
Intermittent travel to Ortho practice sites required


 

Job Summary

Summary
This position manages a team of APPs and/or other clinical and allied health professionals, possibly a large team or multiple small-sized teams. The position spends the majority of time on management, administrative and/or program and project management for the department.

Essential Functions
-Directly oversees and is accountable for the performance of a team(s).
-Performs project/program management and/or administrative responsibilities for the department, applying knowledge and practices as a Physician Assistant.
-Responsible for the hiring, performance management, and completion of performance appraisals for the team(s).
-Responsible for orienting, training, and scheduling staff.
-Contributes to quality standards and improvements of the department.
-Ensures continuing education and teaching for APPs, contributing to the implementation of educational programs for APPs across the department.
-Acts as a liaison between the hospital, physician and nursing staff, and other APPs, working towards improving communication channels and collaborating on process improvements.
-Ensures APPs are following proper billing compliance rules and methodology.
-Performs all essential functions of a Physician Assistant when needed.


 

Qualifications

Education
Master's Degree Physician Assistant required

Licenses and Credentials
Physician Assistant [State License] - Generic - HR Only required

Experience
Experience as an advanced practice provider 5-7 years required and Experience as a manager/people-leader 2-3 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge in the advanced practitioner field, best practices, and current trends and modalities.
- Broad knowledge of modern health care administration practices and principles within a managed care environment.
- Demonstrated effective managerial and administrative leadership of clinical operations.
- Effective analytical ability in order to develop and analyze options, recommend solutions to, and solve complex problems and issues.
- Skill in written and verbal communication with colleagues, management, patients, and the public.
- Ability to exercise initiative, problem-solving, and decision-making in emergency situations.
