We are hiring a full-time Paralegal to assist with litigation, regulatory, and claims management matters. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Paralegal will be an integral part of the Litigation Team working with other members of the team, internal stakeholders, and third-party adjusters to ensure the best results in our litigation, regulatory, and claims management cases. The Paralegal will work with a high degree of autonomy and perform substantive legal work. The Paralegal will also be involved in implementing process improvements where needed.  This is a hybrid role.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume carriage of  Small Claims Court, Tribunal, Regulatory, and Provincial Offences matters, including preparing correspondence, pleadings, motion materials, etc. and attending court;

  • Liaise with the business on litigation/dispute matters, locate documents, collect data, etc.;

  • Assist with our self-insured claims;

  • Arrange for service and filing of legal documents;

  • Legal Tracker administration including opening /closing matters;

  • Respond to legal requests relating to garnishments, bankruptcies, assignments, and debt collection;

  • Organize files, correspondence, and related documents electronically;

  • Support customer service and stores; and

  • Assist with a variety of special projects.

About You:

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience with a law firm or major company;

  • Law Society of Ontario P1 (Paralegal) License in good standing;

  • Good understanding of law firm or legal department processes and systems;

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented;

  • Excellent communication, time management, and multitasking skills;

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently;

  • Strong team player; and

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
