The Coordinator of Distinguished Programs, under general supervision, engages in ongoing communications with high school and community college partners in the institutional service areas. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate. Travel may be required to multiple work site locations.
Responsibilities:
30% Identifies interests and needs on the part of the high school and college partners for university staff to provide support in helping students navigate their way to the university, e.g, having a Mobile Welcome Center visit the campus, having financial aid staff conduct a workshop for parents and students, having career counselors conduct a career exploration activity to help students identify career strengths.
20% Arranges annual campus visits with high school/college partners, accompanying university leaders to locations as needed.
15% Keeps ISD superintendents, principals, and counselors informed of new and continuing educational opportunities, e.g., information fairs, university preview days, Texan orientation events.
10% Stays aware of events hosted at the high schools or colleges in which the university would like to participate.
10% Serves as a liaison between external partners and university departments to facilitate collaboration and engagement to help students transition to university.
10% Provides direct support to students from top partners and/or connects students with appropriate university representatives for individualized assistance.
5% As privacy laws allow, exchanges data with high school/college partners to support students transitioning to university, and to keep partners informed of their students' post-transition success.
Required Education and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
-Two years of related experience in public relations, marketing, or recruitment including one year of related supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to travel to multiple worksite locations
Preferred Languages:
Bilingual – Spanish
Salary:
Commensurate with experience
The target base annual salary is $45,000 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
