About Your Role:

As an Advanced Analytics & Assortment Intern at Dollar Tree’s corporate office, you won’t just be looking at what sold yesterday—you’ll be helping us build the tools that predict what will sell tomorrow. You will act as the "Data Scientist of the Shopping Aisle," partnering with our Merchandising and Analytics teams to bring high-level logic to our product mix.

You’ll use your technical skills to investigate product performance, helping us bridge the gap between complex data and strategic business decisions. Your day-to-day duties include:

• Predictive Analysis Support: Assist in developing models to analyze historical product performance and help Merchants define the "wedge" (the specific mix of products) that meets customer demand.
• Building Visual Stories: Help design and maintain intuitive dashboards (using tools like Tableau or Power BI) that allow our business leaders to see real-time insights at a glance.
• Workflow Automation: Use your foundational coding skills (SQL/Python) to help automate repetitive data tasks, making our team faster and more efficient.
• The "Science" of the Shelf: Support the development of predictive models (like regression or classification) to help the company forecast sales and understand customer trends.
• Strategic Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Merchandising and Supply Chain teams to ensure our analytics tools are solving real-world problems.
• Innovation Champion: Explore how AI-enhanced tools can support a leaner, more agile analytics function within a multi-billion dollar retail environment.

Your Required Skills and Experience:

• Analytical Rigor: You enjoy "playing with data" and have a high degree of comfort with numbers and logic.
• Detail Oriented: This is your top skill. You understand that in advanced analytics, a single line of code or a misplaced decimal can change an entire strategy.
• Communication & Influence: You are a "Data-Driven Extrovert"—you enjoy talking to people and can explain a complex chart to someone who isn't a "numbers person."
• Technical Foundations: Foundational knowledge of SQL or Python (even if from coursework) and an interest in data visualization.

Preferred Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• A "Team Player" mindset with a strong desire to learn how corporate retail operates behind the scenes.

The Internship-to-Career Pipeline

We are looking for future leaders, not just summer help. This role offers a clear path from the classroom to a senior corporate career:

Summer Internship: A full-time, 10-week immersive experience at our corporate headquarters in Chesapeake, VA.

The Capstone Case Study: At the end of the summer, you will present a data-driven project to our leadership team to demonstrate your mastery of skills. The Year-Long Co-op: Based on successful completion of the internship, you may receive an offer to continue as a part-time, remote Co-op during the school year.

The Full-Time Offer: High-performing Co-op students are prioritized for full-time Analyst roles upon graduation.
