About you and this role

The Packaging Operator is vital to supporting the Carrollton 1201 Sealant Down Pack Operation. This position is key to maintaining a high level of safety, productivity, and profitability for the Carrollton packaging operation. The Packaging Operator will be directly involved in the packaging of sealant cartridges/tubes produced from multiple lines.  The Packaging Operator is the line expert and works in conjunction with production coordinators, and direct supervision to ensure maximum safety and productivity. This role is a 24/7 rotating shift schedule (3 days on/3 days off) days to nights. 

Responsibilities

  • Must be flexible in operation assignments and adjust to staffing changes.  
  • Monitor for equipment and product upsets. Trouble shoot and resolve issues.  
  • Mentoring trainees on your shift. 
  • Communicate production progress and issues.  
  • Documentation of production progress and issues.  
  • Escalate resource and material needs to direct supervision to maximize production.  
  • Must be flexible in work assignments.  
  • Capable of fulfilling all equipment operator roles.  
  • Capable of performing material movements in SAP.  
  • The individual in this environment often works at a fast pace with minimum to moderate supervision. The requirements of the business may cause frequent interruptions and changing priorities.  
  • Complete multiple tasks and see them through completion. 
  • Housekeeping and 5S management of working areas. 
  • Operate fork truck. 
  • Ship and receive finished goods and packaging components.  
  • Manual down pack of bulk goods.   
  • Operate under all of Dow’s Safety Standards and wear proper PPE. 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma OR GED equivalent 
  • 1 or more years of experience in an industrial manufacturing role.

  • Able to work overtime as needed. 
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. 

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience operating a fork truck. 
  • Piece-mill work experience. 
  • Packaging experience.  
  • Safety focused. 

Additional Notes

  • The ability to work a full shift, come to work on time, work overtime and holidays as needed and the ability to work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation is an essential function of this position.
