Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI) is a global semiconductor leader that bridges the physical and digital worlds to enable breakthroughs at the Intelligent Edge. ADI combines analog, digital, and software technologies into solutions that help drive advancements in digitized factories, mobility, and digital healthcare, combat climate change, and reliably connect humans and the world. With revenue of more than $12 billion in FY22 and approximately 25,000 people globally working alongside 125,000 global customers, ADI ensures today’s innovators stay Ahead of What’s Possible.

About Our Team

Today’s world is filled with complex processors that are being tasked to do more and more.  Whether it’s advanced hearing devices, green energy solutions, intelligent motion control, immersive audio platforms, precision electrification systems, or advanced warning systems, our customers are building the future on Analog Devices processors. Using ADI’s development tools, the Development Tools Engineering (DTE) team strives to give our customers a development experience that allows them not only to create incredible products, but to produce them faster than ever before.

Who we are looking for

Analog Devices, Inc. is seeking software developers who like having the flexibility to get into the low-level details of embedded firmware but who also likes to work on host applications that interact with the firmware. In the Development Tools Engineering team, we have that flexibility, and you will be able to expand your skillset. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who has a passion for digging in and learning new things.

Who You Are

You are more than just the assigned project.  You’re driven by your curiosity to understand how things work – and to fix them when they don’t. You enjoy your work, yet you also enjoy a work/life balance that allows you time to unwind and spend time with family and friends outside of work. You enjoy a hybrid work schedule that allows you a couple days of work from home each week. You’re ready to learn, and you’re ready to guide – whether it’s the next generation of engineers coming up behind you, or customers with a looming deadline.

A Day in the Life

In this role, most days will be different from the previous. Our team mainly works below the GUI layer straight down to communicating with the processor. We develop debuggers for ADI processors that include SHARC, ARM and RISC-V cores. This means you will be writing the code to read/write registers, step/run/halt, set breakpoints, and read/write memory on the target processor. Within DTE we develop our own emulators, and our team writes the firmware that not only communicates through JTAG with the target processor, but also communicates with the host machine through USB and Ethernet. You will be encouraged to find different projects of interest within DTE and use that opportunity to expand your skillset.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in CompE, CS, or EE with 5-7 years of SW development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to characterize, debug and troubleshoot issues in software applications
  • A strong interest in software development for embedded devices
  • Strong C/C++ skills
  • Experience using in-circuit debuggers and programmers
  • Experience with silicon enabling and bring-up
  • Understanding of the JTAG based debugging and protocol
  • Strong analytical skills and extremely detail oriented
  • Strong interest in continually learning new skills and technologies
  • A team player with strong communication skills as well as the ability to work autonomously in our supportive environment if required

Differentiating Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of Coresight debug and trace
  • Experience in supporting, developing, and implementing solutions for faster debug of complex SOCs
  • Interest in contributing to the GDB and OpenOCD open-source projects
  • Experience developing with Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Visual Studio Code, and command line tools
  • Experience with both Linux and Windows operating systems
